The outdoor lighting of the Basilica of S. Maria in Trastevere, was developed within a collaboration between Areti and Marco Frascarolo, in collaboration with the Special Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Rome. The project connected to the recent renovation of the mosaics and frescoes, which characterize the facade of the Basilica, is based on the coexistence of luminaires installed within the perimeter of the Basilica, which guarantee the correct vision at the volumetric and material level of the Basilica, and of luminaires equipped with very narrow optics positioned inside a pole designed ad hoc and placed at the edge of the building in front so as not to alter the design of the square and ath the same time soften the shadows and create a slight glow on the colonnade and on the statues above.
